As you mentioned keeping it personal (but also interesting) is necessary to get the most out of twitter. Including the reason why you should follow someone on #followfriday is key as well. I've stopped doing the #followfriday thing and once in awhile I just randomly tweet why my followers should follow someone (and highlight why). :) Great advice Freya,
